I have a web design that is a table with the %26lt;td%26gt;s or columns. Within the last column, I need to make a series of box outlines. Is there a way to do this without making separate tables for each column?

if you want to make a table you have to add them in this order of tags.
%26lt;table%26gt; - opens a table element
%26lt;tr%26gt; - starts a new row
%26lt;td%26gt; - adds a new cell to the table
%26lt;/td%26gt; - closes the cell
%26lt;/tr%26gt; - etc
%26lt;/table%26gt; - etc
substitute this %26lt;table border = "1"%26gt; if you want to display the table borders
heres an example

If you copy that directly to a html file you can see what it does. the nice thing about tables is that they automatically resize to fit the data that they contain. The downside to them is, if you are building a website with lots of tables it will take a lot longer to load compared to css styling.
if you already have a %26lt;td%26gt; cell like you're explaining, then just find the closing tag for it %26lt;/td%26gt; and add another %26lt;tr%26gt;%26lt;/td%26gt; after it to add another cell. If you're working on a myspace page good luck. Their site has the worst sloppiest broken spaghetti code I have ever seen. It's like they make an effort to code their site as poorly as possible. I have been doing web design and development for a couple of years now and I still have difficulty tweaking my page.

How much should I charge per hour/site for web design?
I do web design, both regular HTML and Flash. I have until recently only done sites for friends and family, but now these people are giving me references and I need to have a standard rate.
I have my BA in Communication with a concentration in Media Arts.
Is there a general hourly wage I should ask for? or should I charge by the page (and how much)?

Reply:Have you thought about charging per project? It seems easier to just package your services, especially if you're going to freelance.
While it maybe reasonable now to charge by the hour, time will come that you'll have lots and lots of code from previous jobs that you can recycle; and therefore, things get quicker and quicker to get done-- and hourly charging is not going to be fair for you in the long run.
Take for example a PSD to HTML+CSS project. The first couple of templates may take a long time to make. But the further you go along, the more recyclable code you already have and so the succeeding pages may only take 2-5 minutes to make. Not good for you if you charged by the hour, right?
But if you charge a reasonable $100 for 10-15 pages of HTMLed PSDs, it doesn't matter whether you are able to make them in 12 hours or in 45 minutes.
It's the same thing with building Flash applications. From project-to-project, you get to save lots of little scripts for animating things, getting data from XML files, and making server requests for other things, which you can reuse later to make your life easier. :)

You may want to check out freeservers.com they have free pages %26amp; the hosting fees aren't that bad when you want to upgrade.
Then you will want to start learning something about HTML/XHTML so that you can check coding of your pages. A good HTML/XHTML editor is PageBuilder (it's gone public domain now)

They only charge flat price, ($18 per month) ,and include Web hosting, Shopping Cart system,..... etc. This would be the most inexpensive way to have your web site to go online. The builder allows you to create your web page easily without knowledge of programming language.

What is a good program for web design that has artist gallery pages?
I'm looking for a way to enhance my gallery page on my website. I want a slide show type page. I'd like to have thumbnails in a column and then the larger detailed photo next to it when you click on that image. Is there a program that has that sort of template or something? I use Yahoo Site Builder.

How can I change everything on my myspace? Codes and tweaks that aren't common? Web design?
I want to make my myspace into something different. I want to use it for my photo production/company. How do I change the look completely? Take what I want out, and put what I do want in. I've been to the "tweak pages", and they aren't what I'm looking for. I think what I'm wanting is more along the web design lines. Thank you so much!
