How much should I charge for a decent web design service?

So I'm going freelance, been designing for about 3 years. How much would you be prepared to pay for a decent looking website?

How much should I charge for a decent web design service?
I think web designers charge too much. For a complete website I would say, depending on your resume, $150-200 USD with at least 6 months support. But if you are just starting out you should probably charge a little less at first. Unless you are doing something for a big company.. lol
Reply:If you send me a sample, I will be glad to give you an idea, because I am in the market for some web design right now. Maybe I can even become a new customer if you do what I am looking for.

Reply:I will use the famous car dealership comparison: What answer would you expect walking into a car dealership and asking "How much is a car?" Depends on model, features, etc, right? A good looking site can be 1 page, 100 pages, flash based, xhtml based etc. Does it include database access? Content management? With my company I typically charge about $60/hr and use that rate along with how much time I think it will take to create the project and provide a quote based off of the result. Also, make sure you are aware of any overhead such as the licensing cost of third party scripts that may be used. Every project is different. After you have taken on a few projects you will get a feel of how much you need to charge to make it worth your while. The cheapest site I have done was for $750. This most expensive was $15,000.

Good luck in your freelancing endeavors!!
