I am looking to get a further education in graphics and webdesign. I don't have to much time and I heard of online courses or night courses are available. I want to get really good at web but need somewhere to start. I know basic web stuff. I also been to college with a film video digree. Any advice?
What is the best way to study for cheap and good in web design?
aside from graphics you need to know how to put them together in a website using html, and css.
I'd say it'd be difficult to get a fast and cheap knowledge to build a good website.
There are many tutorial sites out there that can help you learn what you want. For example http://www.csszengarden.com is a great place to learn about css, however you might need suppplements to this if you are completely new to css.
You can also search the web for tutorials based on the product you are using and what you want to accomplish
For example: "Adobe Photoshop CS button tutorial"
would help you find tutorials on how to make buttons using adobe photoshop cs.
There are things out there than can help you get started, but when it comes to technology the three words that never work together is "Good, Fast, and cheap"
Reply:Frankly, I would not bother with any education. If you already have any sort of multimedia degree, that looks good. Graphics and Web Design is easy. Just do it.
Well, that's not a very specific answer... Just start making some dynamic websites. PHP, MySQL, and Apache Webserver are free. Java is free too. There are tonnes of resources online on CSS and "AJAX" and all those buzzwords.
Reply:Your best bet would be to become an apprentice. Seriously! If you know anyone who is particularly intelligent in this field, sit behind them while they work and watch, inquire, and try to participate, you know, take over while they take a coffee break. Working with someone gives you the all-important human connection.
