Name: Design with Web Standards

Author: Jeffery Zeldman

Brief: It’s for designers, developers, site owners and managers who seek to end the costly spiral of obsolescence, where each new browser or Internet device means a whole new coding cycle and another line item on the budget
Reply:Adobe software is common, so for that I'd go to your local discount bookstore, and try to find books that are a little older, CS2 isn't that different from CS1, adobe also has a "classroom in a book" series that's quite good (except the dreamweaver book, which got terrible reviews).

I also have a design book called "Don't Make me think" ISBN 0321344758 it's humorous and probably very helpful. You'd also probably be well off to get a book on typography.
