Is it possible to make £100K a year doing freelance web design projects?

I'll be graduating at the end of this year with a 'Web Site Manager and Designer' qualification. And I plan to start freelancing in January next year. I'll have a work at home office etc. I live in London. Is it realistic to aim to make £100K a year from it?

Definately... that's really only 50 pounds an hour based on a 40 hour week. You'll have to keep busy to achieve your goal but 50 pounds an hour for a professional isn't that much to expect. Keep in mind that your services are tax deductible to your clients so make sure you stress that. You really need to start advertising yourself NOW and might want to get some free jobs out there to show what you can do. Always get references, join associates that can help you network with people who want/need your service, and realize that you will soon be a businesses. Now is a good time to start reading books from the library on consulting, business startups, and trends in the web design industry. Get yourself a couple of companies or non-profit agencies that you can donate your time to. As your business takes off you can make 100 pounds a year without even having to work. Your future agency can rake in the money while other students and grads do the work for you. Aim to be the best you can be but get a plan and stick to it. Start learning new things today that will set you apart from the competition!!!

You will need a sales strategy to sell your skills.





Where's your portfolio?





You will not make that sort of money straight away, as you have no commercial experience and to build up your client list as a business.





Charging a monthly support fee for projects you have designed is a great way to build your monthly revenue. This will just keep adding and adding everytime you complete a project.
