What career category would Web Design fall under?

I am thinking of going back to school! Well anyway, taking classes from home, online. I would like to get into Web Design, but that is not listed on many college web sites. What category would that fall under? Would it be Information Systems, Programming? Something else? Thanks for any answers. :)

What career category would Web Design fall under?
That would depend upon which discipline in web design. If you're talking about the physical design aspect (working in Photoshop, creating the HTML/CSS layout, etc.) then steer yourself in the direction of DESIGN or ART anywhere in the more creative realm.

If you're talking programming (like server-side scripting such as ASP or PHP, etc), then IIS or computer programming like others have mentioned.
Reply:Computer Science or Information Systems, most probably. Graphic Design would be good, too. An understanding of aesthetics is more important than programming ability, though. You can learn to code, you can learn new programs, but you have to have good desgn sense or it's worthless.

Look at the CSS Zen Garden for ideas.

Reply:Look for graphic design, IT, and communications
Reply:web designing in todays world has become a catagory in itself .

you can learn in IT , GRAPHICS AND PROGRAMMING courses.
Reply:It's a combination of Information Systems and Graphic Design.
Reply:It can be several. General web design would be under Graphic Design. Diferent site technologies (ASP, .NET, Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, etc) would be under computer science, though there would be some overlap on things like JavaScript I would expect.
Reply:Web Design - graphic arts and communication

Web App Programming - Computer Science (CS) and Computer Information Systems (CIS - CS without any hard math)

Other relavent degrees include Computer Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS) and Software Engineering.
Reply:combination of graphic designers, computer science and computer engineering
