What should I charge for my web design?

I built a web site for my parents rental home (http://www.vacationnorrislake.com) and our neighbors want me to build them a site for their home now. What is a resonable price?

What should I charge for my web design?
Call a couple of professionals in your area and ask what they charge per hour. Then halve it. Tell your neighbors that they can have as many features as they want, but since you charge by the hour, each one will cost them. If you just copy and alter the one you did for your parents, and they supply the pictures, you should be able to knock it out in two hours or less. If they want something fancy, it could be a 12-hour project.

There are 151,000 hits in Google for [deerfield resort rental],and you don't come up in the first 50. You might consider

1) Adding description and keywords meta tags

2) Using %26lt;h1%26gt; at the top instead of embedding "Hasbrouk House" in the graphic

The site is awfully good for a high-school student; clean, clear, fast, straight-forward, no animated garbage. I would have used more active voice, but I'm an old English teacher.

Passive voice: "The following list of marinas and activities are provided to better help you plan your vacation. "

Active voice: "Here is list of marinas and activities to help you plan your vacation."

I would have made all the links blue and underlined on that page, too.

I would have spell-checked it:

"We will provide a gate pass for each of your %26gt;%26gt;%26gt; cehicles for display upon entrance to the neighborhood"

But, we all have days our minds fly ahead of our fingers. It is a very nice site.
Reply:It's a decent site, not complex, very simple design. . . I'd say around $50
Reply:Figure out how many hours it will take you to do the job, and make a bid accordingly, based on your expertise and experience, how much per hour is it worth? Take into account the complexity and the detail required. But make your bid based on what it will cost you to do it (time) OR do just a cost per page, say $25 bucks a page or so. Then just do it in the most efficient manner
Reply:I looked at it. its pretty basic and nothing out of this world.

We are talking about your parents who fed you all your life don't charge them.

your neighbor charge them $50 this is nothing out of this world worth $500
Reply:charge $200 for the whole site unless you're going to script it heavily and make ecommerce.

then for each pristine script and commerce.. just add $50 unless the commerce is fully functional then the price should go up.. secure servers and all that jazz.... but basic stuff like you have $200 is a good, very good price...

you could go up a wee more... but make sure things work right and the site is self sufficient.
