I was wondering it because I want to be a web designer.

Who are some of the leading employers of web design positions?
You'll find that very rarely are there lots of web designers working in the same place. It isn't really like computer programming where there are big fish like Google or Microsoft. Web designer is a rather specific role, as it typically pertains to dealing exclusively with look and feel of a website. I am a web designer who codes in CSS and HTML and deals with all the graphics. This is different from being a web developer, which is typically a more sought after position by employers, especially if the person can code in higher level languages and do good visual design.

Obviously there are big corporations that employ lots of designers, but for the most part web designers are either solo freelancers or work for one of the numerous small design companies out there. I work for a web company and do all the look and feel for their 1 large site as part of a web development team.

As a word of advice, I would definitely focus on becoming proficient in CSS. It is a skill that pretty much landed me my last 2 jobs.
Reply:most web design work is freelance
Reply:Amazon, yahoo, google, microsoft, ebay, cnn, etrade, etc. Any big company you can think of...
