Whats a good, but inexpensive program for web design?

I have recently learned Dreamweaver at work and have built my first website. I offered my help to a friend who would like to build a website for his small business, but he cant afford to buy Dreamweaver to build it or maintain it on. I'm still pretty new in the web design world. What are my other program options?

Whats a good, but inexpensive program for web design?
I use EvrSoft First Page 2006. I'm still pretty new into webpage design, so it might be a bit simplistic (though just suitable for my needs). It is a freeware program.
Reply:Microsoft Frontpage (sort of like Dreamweaver, might come with the Microsoft Office Suite)

Coffeecup HTML (cheaper than Dreamweaver)

Or use good ol' fashion Notepad. Remember all HTML and CSS can be written with a text editor if you're experienced with it enough, don't need professional software. Just save the file with the extension you need (like .html).
Reply:I think HTML will help u.U can code in HTML through a simple text editor like notepad and create a web page add links other web pages.I have no experience in web designing but I am sure HTML will not be heavy on ur pocket.
Reply:I have written and maintain a website for a bike riding group in Florida. The site isn't that complex (as you can see), and is basically a site just to place photo's of the rides.

As long as you're not gettng into anything too complex, you can actually hand code the entire site in any text editor, without too much difficulty.

Reply:Notepad.

Ok seriously M$ has a beta program I forget the exact name, but they've phased out frontpage and got this new thing.

I believe its called expression web design. Free because its beta and it will break your computer like all other MS products!

What?! MS products break? Blasphemy!
Reply:Trellian looks like it might be a good free one.

I would also advise checking this link for further free ones for review.
